How Deep checks works
Founders apply on our site. We vet them for (1) being deeptech and (2) appearing venture backable. We vet using their deck and LinkedIn profiles. We don't conduct interviews with founders; we haven't met the founders beforehand. We filter startups with a light touch, preferring to share more deals than fewer so we don't inject our own bias too much. Every three weeks, we then email the best decks to you. You then login into the page you're viewing now, browse the startups below, and click "Click to copy email" next to one to reach out to the founders directly. In short, we are not Y Combinator; we're a deck filtering program for the benefit of hardware founders. We work really hard to be efficient and respect everyone's time.

Elias Systems
Defense
Systems enabling autonomous unmanned naval warfare and logistics

Elias Systems builds autonomous, hydrofoil-assisted unmanned naval vessels designed to operate as an integrated fleet. This technology allows the U.S. military to rapidly scale its maritime presence and overcome the range and logistics limitations of traditional ships to effectively deter global threats.

  • The leadership team includes a former Navy SEAL commander, the co-founder of Amazon Prime Air, and America's Cup-winning naval architects.
  • The boats use a catamaran design with hydrofoils to boost efficiency by over 40 percent, giving them much longer range and the ability to carry heavier payloads.
  • The vessels fit inside standard shipping containers, making them easy to transport on commercial trucks or ships, hide from adversaries, and launch quickly with a small team.
  • It is the only company building unmanned boats with a patent-pending autonomous refueling system, which solves the major problem of running out of gas during long Pacific missions.
  • The military can buy a fleet of 1,300 of these unmanned systems for the same cost as a single traditional destroyer, offering a massive advantage in numbers.
founder's note about traction
Elias is developing a family of autonomous maritime systems engineered from first principles to overcome the range, payload, and logistics limitations of conventional USVs. Our system-level innovations includes the use of hydrofoils, autonomous refueling for extended persistence, containerized deployment for simpler logistics, and a common modular architecture with interchangeable mission kits. Each platform is highly capable independently, but our systems are also designed to operate as an integrated fleet—combining sensing, effects, and sustainment—to deliver mission outcomes no single platform could achieve alone. We are acquiring customers by working directly with Navy and special operations sponsors and operators to define requirements, demonstrate our systems in exercises, and pursue funded R&D, prototype, and rapid-fielding awards through programs and pathways including PAE RAS, DON RCO, APFIT, SOCOM, and ONR. We are also in active discussions with a leading collaborative-autonomy and command-and-control provider to integrate its fleet-level software with our onboard autonomy architecture, enabling us to jointly offer a complete hardware-and-software solution and creating an additional path to production contracts.

Made By Genie
Robotics

Genie is an AI platform that designs physical product formulas and automatically routes them to contract manufacturers. This reduces the traditional 18-month product development cycle to mere days, allowing brands to launch new consumer goods faster.

  • In just six months, the platform has helped over 100 brands create more than 200 product formulas, with one item already on shelves at Walmart.
  • Every single product specification generated by the software has been accepted by manufacturers on the first try, cutting development time from months to days.
  • The company is building an automated lab where robots mix and test the AI-designed formulas, allowing the system to learn from real physical results rather than just text data.
  • The cost of the necessary lab equipment has dropped from millions to under $300,000, making it possible to build this automated testing loop right now.
  • The founders bring strong technical and hardware experience from companies like Tesla, AWS, and Cloud Kitchens to successfully combine software with physical manufacturing.
founder's note about traction
Six months in, 115 brands and founders are building on Genie organically: 224 formulas across 163 products, with three already manufactured and shipped, each spec accepted by the contract manufacturer on the first pass in days rather than the usual 8 to 16 weeks, and one now on shelves in Walmart. We have delivered or have in active production roughly 224,000 units, and $235K in production-orders.

NavX Systems
Transportation (Hardware)
Payload platform stabilizing sensitive equipment on off-road terrain

NavX Systems builds an intelligent, modular suspension platform that uses predictive sensors to make rough, unpaved roads feel as smooth as an airport runway. This allows sensitive cargo like military equipment, mobile datacenters, and medical devices to be safely transported across previously inaccessible terrain without damage.

  • The system uses cameras, radar, and lasers to scan the road ahead and adjust the suspension before the wheels even hit a bump.
  • As the vehicle drives, the front wheels measure the actual bumps and send that data to the rear wheels, creating a smart system that learns and improves with every mile.
  • Instead of just selling parts, the company builds and owns the technology while leasing the platforms to operators like hospitals and the military.
  • They are negotiating an agreement with the U.S. Army that gives them access to millions of dollars worth of testing equipment for free, meaning investment money goes straight to product development.
  • The founding team includes engineers, medical experts, and a former Marine who previously built and sold a medical software company together.
founder's note about traction
We have not launched yet, but we’ve validated demand with senior U.S. military stakeholders managing medical logistics and mission-critical transport. Marine Corps leadership introduced us to Army and Air Force contacts because they saw a strong fit for NavX in battlefield care and protected transport of sensitive systems. Next, we aim to secure signed LOIs and pursue a U.S. Army CRADA.

Insporos
Agriculture

Insporos builds a physical AI system that scans the internal biology of individual seeds in real time without destroying them. This technology saves the agriculture industry billions of dollars by eliminating destructive batch testing, speeding up breeding cycles, and preventing wasted resources on seeds that will never grow.

  • The agriculture industry loses over $80 billion every year because current seed testing methods require destroying small batches of seeds just to see what is inside them.
  • The company's hardware looks inside every single seed without causing any damage, sorting them based on their actual biology rather than just how they look on the outside.
  • By finding diseased and defective seeds before they are even planted, the system stops farmers from wasting water, labor, and greenhouse space on dead seeds.
  • The technology can predict future plant traits directly from the seed, which helps breeders create new crop varieties up to three years faster than before.
  • The team has already tracked over 250,000 seeds and has 10 ongoing pilots with major agricultural companies, plus over $1.25 million in letters of intent for paid pilots.
founder's note about traction
Insporos is at the piloting stage. We’ve built an autonomous seed sorting system, tracked 250,000+ seeds to plant outcomes, have 10 ongoing pilots with growers, breeders, and seed companies, and secured LOIs for paid pilots analyzing millions of seeds when a high-throughput sorter is complete. Next step is to execute paid pilots and build the intelligence layer for seed biology!

Concordance
Biotech

Concordance engineers next-generation probiotics designed to protect the human body from the harmful side effects of everyday drugs and environmental toxins. Their first product prevents severe gut damage caused by common pain relievers, offering millions of patients a safe way to manage chronic pain without destroying their digestive system.

  • About a third of people who regularly take pain relievers develop stomach ulcers or leaky gut, and this probiotic safely protects the stomach lining by producing a natural healing compound.
  • After interviewing over 100 patients and doctors, the team found a massive demand for a natural gut protector because many patients are terrified of the side effects of standard acid reflux drugs.
  • Because the product is a probiotic supplement rather than a traditional pharmaceutical drug, it can reach the market in just two years for a fraction of the cost.
  • The underlying technology can be adapted to solve other major health threats, with future products already being designed to break down microplastics in the body and destroy pesticides on food.
  • The company has successfully tested the science in human gut models, secured exclusive patent rights, and built a team of experienced leaders who are already in talks to co-commercialize with a large supplement brand.
founder's note about traction
In NSF I-Corps we ran 100+ customer interviews. Chronic-pain patients (arthritis) on NSAIDs (Advil) described major gut side effects (ulcers) & fear of them.
